The Glenorchy Jobs Hub celebrated its first 12 months since opening today. The Glenorchy Jobs Hub focuses on supporting local job seekers and employers to find the best job match.
Since opening, the Glenorchy Jobs Hub has had more than 850 local job seekers register, more than 500 people find employment, and over 50 employers working with the Hub.
The Jobs Hub has continuously strived to support locals by offering as many opportunities as possible, including a local jobs fair which hosted over 1200 people, helping them to connect with local businesses.
Glenorchy City Council Mayor Bec Thomas has been delighted with the Hub’s success.
“Since opening the doors last August, Glenorchy’s job seekers and employers have fully embraced the Glenorchy Jobs Hub. It has become a community within a community, and people know they will be met with support and real opportunities when they walk through the door,” she said.
“The many achievements of the Glenorchy Jobs Hub in this short time is genuinely something to be proud of. The success is best evidenced by the stories of local job seekers and employers who have benefited. On behalf of the people of Glenorchy, I say a big thank you and congratulations to the Jobs Hub team and the local job seekers and employers involved.”
“At the heart of the program is connecting local people to local jobs, and the Hub has truly made a positive and lasting impression on those seeking help and supporting in their community.”
STEPS Managing Director Carmel Crouch has been thrilled with the Hubs results and the community’s engagement of the program.
“I am so thankful to the Glenorchy community, our supporters, Jobs Tasmania, Glenorchy City Council, and our STEPS staff. Their commitment and hard work are what drove the success of the Glenorchy Jobs Hub during its first year,” Ms Crouch said.
“We have made a real difference in the lives of many jobs seekers by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to succeed in the current jobs market.”
“Not only has the Jobs Hub supported local job seekers, it has also helped local employers by providing the guidance, support and networks to connect with the right people.”
“I am confident that STEPS will continue to positively impact the local community through the Glenorchy Jobs Hub.”
The Glenorchy Jobs Hub is supported for the next three years by a $1.6 million grant from the Tasmanian Government as part of Jobs Tasmania’s Regional Jobs Hub Network. The Glenorchy Jobs Hub is a not-for-profit initiative run by Glenorchy City Council in partnership with STEPS Group Australia.
