The Social Justice and Student Engagement Trainee offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the spiritual and faith formation of students and staff within the Catholic tradition. Working closely with the Director of Catholic Identity and Ministry, the role involves supporting liturgical / retreat programs and promoting the Gospel as a foundation for contemporary life. The Trainee will also provide vital administrative support to the College Ministry Team, assisting with planning and delivering key events and initiatives that reflect the College’s Catholic identity and mission.


Key Responsibilities: The Trainee will actively participate in the preparation and delivery of Student Spirituality Retreats, Staff Spirituality Days including various outreach and fundraising activities supporting Catholic charities. This role also involves preparing prayer resources, assisting in the organisation of liturgical celebrations, facilitating creative prayer opportunities for students and staff. Additionally, the Trainee will develop Youth Programs, support community outreach and lead initiatives like the MacKillop College St Vincent de Paul Conference and the Vinnies Breakfast program. Administrative tasks include booking venues, liaising with stakeholders, preparing ministry-related resources, while ensuring all activities align with the College’s Catholic values and policies.


This role requires a commitment to Catholic identity and values, strong teamwork, collaboration with school staff and the wider community to enhance student outcomes. Attendance at key events, including some overnight retreats and weekend liturgical celebrations, will be necessary. The Trainee will also uphold workplace safety and compliance standards, create a welcoming environment for young people and contribute positively to the mission of MacKillop Catholic College. An understanding of the Catholic community and a willingness to work cooperatively within this context is essential.
